Beirut – 27 June, 2013 – In conformity with its strategy to support Universities, Bank of Beirut has signed a comprehensive Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Antonine University enveloping all aspects of banking services. By signing this new MOU, an additional prime Lebanese university has joined the Bank’s five existing partnerships with LAU, USEK, NDU, USJ and AUST.
The MOU was signed at the Antonine University in Hadath by Mr. Salim Sfeir, Chairman – CEO of Bank of Beirut and Father Germanos Germanos, Rector of the Antonine University. The ceremony was held in the presence of Father Antoine Aziz, the University’s Administrative and Financial Director, Mr. George Aouad - Head of Retail and Branches Division, Bank of Beirut, as well of a number of the University Council members and the Bank’s Executive Officers.
In his speech, Father Germanos expressed the Antonine University’s pride to partner with Bank of Beirut, stating that the University’s objectives of serving the community and building the future are in line with the goals of Bank of Beirut. In turn, Mr. Sfeir reiterated that Bank of Beirut is proud to join forces with the Antonine University, especially that both institutions share the same mission of “promoting the educational sector in Lebanon and in supporting the young generations, the pillars of the country’s future”.
The speeches were followed by a presentation by Mr. George Aouad elaborating the facilities and services offered to the University Community by virtue of the new MOU, one of which being the Antonine University Affinity Credit Card; a Card developed for its staff, faculty, students and Alumni whereby a portion of the earnings will be channeled for the development of University. Furthermore, the Bank will be providing the community of the Antonine University with an ID Access Card, a unique card exclusively offered by Bank of Beirut to universities, and which may be utilized on campus as an Identification card allowing the access to Antonine facilities and Departments. It is also a bank debit card branded Visa, eligible for all payments both locally and globally. Smart ATM machines will also be installed on campus, which in addition to carrying out their daily transactions will allow University students to execute their tuition fee payments. Full arrays of banking facilities with preferential interest rates have also been tailored to meet the needs of the Antonine University community.
