Bank of Beirut Launches a Unique CSR Initiative

27/12/2012

In line with its longstanding vision and mission to empower and support the Lebanese Youth, Bank of Beirut has launched the Young Achievers Program (YAP), a long-term socially responsible initiative committed to endorsing the youth of Lebanon.
Established by Bank of Beirut, the Young Achievers Program is an interactive competition aimed at recognizing and rewarding young talented individuals having accomplished worthy achievements in all walks of life.

The YAP competition takes effect through a Bank of Beirut sponsored TV segment titled “Ekhir Injez” which will be featured during MTV Lebanon’s “Men El Ekhir” weekly talk show. Throughout the competition, university students will be hosted and invited to share their success stories before a panel of judges, including representatives from universities as well as from Bank of Beirut.

During each episode, a new young talent will take the stage to present his/her achievement to the public on-air. Judges will evaluate the candidate by either a thumbs-up or thumbs-down. Each thumbs-up is equivalent to US$ 500. Bank of Beirut will reward the candidate with a monetary sum equivalent to all the thumbs-ups he/she receives. The prize money will be deposited into a Bank of Beirut 3D Account assigned to each candidate.

Over and above the weekly financial prizes that are to be won throughout each episode as well as the nationwide TV exposure and recognition each candidate gains for their achievement, a final top three achievers will be determined at the end of the season and recognized as a Platinum winner achiever, a Gold winner achiever and a Silver winner achiever, receiving financial rewards amounting up to US$ 15,000. The final top 3 Achievers are determined through a weighted average between the panel judges’ scores and a public online voting score. Online voting will take place on www.yaplebanon.com

The Bank of Beirut Young Achievers Program is in partnership with the following major universities and academic institutions in Lebanon: LAU, NDU, USEK, AUST, USJ, and AMIDEAST, but it will also welcome individual applications from other universities, independent young professionals and university graduates. Public voting for candidates will take place through Bank of Beirut “yaplebanon.com” interface and Facebook page. Accomplished young students, fresh graduates and alumni members between 18 and 25 years old who have excelled in a certain field such as music, sports, business, etc. are invited to share their inspiring achievements. Commenting on the latest CSR initiative, Paul Boulos, Head of MarCom at Bank of Beirut says: "YAP aims at bringing together Lebanese talents from all walks of life toward a common goal of building a better Lebanon, and as such, controversial and religious matters are not welcome. Only real success stories are".
