On the occasion of the visit of His Beatitude Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros El Rai to Australia, Bank of Beirut Chairman-CEO, Dr. Salim G. Sfeir attended a dinner hosted by the Maronite Bishop of Australia, His Eminence Antoine Charbel Tarabay, during which the Bank's Chairman awarded the Premier of New South Wales, the Honorable Mike Baird, a trophy from Bank of Beirut Group and Bank of Sydney, in recognition of his role in promoting and supporting the Lebanese-Australian relations.

In his speech, Dr. Sfeir praised the efforts exerted by the New South Wales Premier, and introduced to the audience the "World Patriarchal Maronite Foundation for Integral Development", a recently-launched initiative, co-founded by a group of highly committed Lebanese, to which he is considerably devoted. This foundation strives to solidifying the Lebanese bond with their land, by assisting our youth in both the business and public sectors, in an endeavor to strengthening their ties with their homeland. This would require an all-embracing workshop aimed at deep-rooting our young generation in their fatherland.
