The annual dinner of LAU Alumni Chapter Dubai was held at Al Bustan Rotana this year; among its 500 guests were the Lebanese Minister of Education and Higher Education, Elias Bou Saab, the Lebanese General Consul Sami Nmeir, Consul Haytham Ibrahim, LAU President Dr. Joseph G. Jabbra, and Salim Sfeir, Chairman of Bank of Beirut and Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees at LAU.

Sponsored by Bank of Beirut, the 2014 Annual Gala Dinner was held on April 24th, under the theme: “Fund Education and Enhance Lives.” Believing in education and in the support of the youth, Bank of Beirut has helped to fund the education of those who can unfortunately not afford it.

After stressing the important role education plays in our lives, Dr. Joseph Jabbra, LAU President, detailed the mission LAU has been following since its establishment in 1835 and that has led it to become one of the biggest universities in the region with two campuses, one in the heart of Beirut and another in Byblos, a University Medical Center in Beirut and an academic center and headquarters in New York.

Mr. Salim Sfeir, CEO Bank of Beirut, spoke about the uniqueness of this year’s reception because of the honoring of Minister Bou Saab and shared the great feelings he had being a member of LAU family, the university that is doing its utmost for the youth thanks to the leadership of President Jabbra.

As for the Minister of Education and Higher Education, Mr. Elias Bou Saab, he described President Jabbra’s story as one of the many success stories the Lebanese have had whether in their homeland or abroad.
