Patriarch Nasrallah Sfeir Foundation annual Dinner was held on December 9 with the support of Bank of Beirut. Dr. Salim G. Sfeir, Chairman – CEO of the Bank stated, “Patriarch Sfeir is the guarantor of the Independence”.
“We are all reunited today around the “icon” Patriarch Mar Nasrallah Boutros Sfeir in the presence of the Head of the Maronite Church Mar Bechara Boutros El Rai to celebrate a noble occasion, in Your Beatitude’s presence, the guarantor of our Independence” he said.
“The courageous and daring stands you have reflected in the most challenging circumstances are today our backbone foundations, he confirmed, addressing the Patriarch Emeritus.

Bank of Beirut Chairman emphasized that Patriarch Sfeir’s presence in our country is a buffer against evil advocates seeking to submerge Lebanon… “Let’s never forget that Patriarch Sfeir was the sole person who voiced his opposition against the occupier in those days when despair prevailed. Patriarch Sfeir echoed his powerful voice against the occupier, hollering, “Leave Lebanon - Give back its independence.”
In conclusion, Sfeir highlighted that Bkerke and Patriarch Bechara Boutros El Rai will remain the glory of Lebanon, especially at this historical moment when the Christian Presence in the Middle East is confronting stringy challenges.
“We are desperately in need of a leader similar to Noah, competent in guiding the ark, while harmoniously preserving our diversity and creating peace and prosperity in the Arab region” Sfeir concluded.
