Under the patronage of Prime Minister Saad Hariri, the Digital Lebanon Conference was convened on September 13, 2019 in Beirut.
Sponsored by Bank of Beirut and organized by Al-Iktissad Wal-Aamal Group, the conference was attended by ministers, government officials and senior executives representing technology companies from various sectors in Lebanon and other countries, as well as Lebanese and international figures in the field of information and communications, experts, consulting companies and representatives from international organizations.
Bringing the brightest minds to discuss the institutional bases for building the future of Lebanon’s economy: the digital economy, the conference discussed Lebanon’s digital strategy and the most pressing topics that will help the government bridge the technology and knowledge gaps. It has also featured an intervention by Mr. Georges Aouad, Director –Consumer Banking Division at Bank of Beirut who discussed digitization across the banking sector. Confirming that 40% of the Bank’s branch network is now hybrid, Aouad highlighted Bank of Beirut’s continuous efforts to transform all its branches into a hybrid banking environment with state of the art technologies that work in harmony with human intervention, ensuring efficiency, convenience and outstanding customer experience. Yet, reaching a world class digital bank, said Aouad, is a combination of both modern culture and advanced technology.
